Experience & perspective.
John Steen is the EY Distinguished Scholar in Global Mining Futures at the University of British Columbia and leads BRIMM. Before joining UBC in 2019, he led Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the University of Queensland Business School and advised governments and companies on innovation and economic policy.
His research examines innovation and sustainable development in the resources sector, including digital business models, technology ecosystems and major resource projects. He has advised the BC Mining Innovation Roadmap, serves as a senior editor for the Project Management Journal, and holds visiting and honorary professorships in Iceland and Australia.
