Atlas Copco Mining & Rock Excavation
Peter is a mining engineer from the Camborne School of Mines in England with an extensive background in the Global Surface and Underground Mining Industry. He began as a Miner on the Copperbelt of the then Northern Rhodesia (Zambia today), and worked for Rio Tinto after graduation in La Ronge and Elliot Lake, before joining Atlas Copco. He has held various senior positions globally with the Atlas Copco Group, including in Montreal, Vancouver, London, Windhoek (Namibia), Gaberones (Botswana) and Sudbury.
On the way he was founder Chair of the IMM in Namibia, and rose to be District Commissioner for Boy Scouts in Namibia. Back in Canada, he was President of the World Rock Boring Association for 2 years, and first International Vice-President for the CIM for 2 years, and then Vice-President for CIM’s District 3 for 4 years, after which he was awarded the CIM Distinguished Service Medal.
Peter resides in Sudbury, Ontario (Canada) with his wife Louise, and has two sons living and working in Ottawa, Ontario.
