Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations, A Glencore Company
Peter Xavier is the Vice President, Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations, A Glencore Company having overall accountability for the underground mines Nickel Rim South and Fraser, Strathcona Mill and Sudbury Smelter.
A graduate of Laurentian University’s Mining Engineering program, Peter’s previous key positions were Nickel Rim South Mine Director, Thayer Lindsley Mine Manager and Strathcona Mill Manager.
One of the proudest moments was being part of the Nickel Rim South team that won consecutive John T Ryan Regional trophies as safest mine in Ontario in 2013 and 2014.
Peter is an active Board member with the Ontario Mining Association (OMA), Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation (CEMI) and the Ultra Deep Mining Network (UNDM). Peter was previously on the board of the Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM) – Sudbury Chapter.
Additionally, Peter is an alumnus of the Caribbean-Canada Emerging Leaders Dialogue 2011 and CSCLeaders 2014, programs built on the Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Conferences. Peter joined leaders from business, government, labour, and civil society to take part in this strategic initiative aimed at providing a regional approach to leadership development. It assembles senior leaders from across the Commonwealth to tackle challenges that businesses, governments and society face today. Peter volunteered on the steering committee for CCELD2015.
